The Love I Put Into Every Black Doll I Make

One of the best parts of making custom dolls is seeing a child’s face light up when they recognize themselves in that doll. But let’s be honest — finding a doll that truly represents a Black child is still surprisingly rare. That’s why I make them, slowly, carefully, and with a lot of heart.

✨ A Real Process — Not a Factory Doll

When I make a Black rag doll, I start by dyeing natural cotton fabric to create a beautiful, soft skin tone. I don’t use pre-colored fabric or synthetic blends. I mix the tone, soak the fabric, and let it dry naturally. That’s what gives it a warm, lived-in feel.

Next, you send me a photo — not necessarily of your child — just a Black face you love. It can be a celebrity, a drawing, or a favorite family photo. From there, I create a digital face illustration, print it on cotton, and hand sew it into the head. Every doll is unique. No templates, no mass production.

🧶 Beautiful Hair Options

I work with all kinds of yarn and fibers, but my favorite is black wool with gold metallic threads. It adds shimmer and texture without being itchy or plastic-looking.

Want braids? I can do that. Short or long. Side ponytail or top knot. If you want an Afro, I do have a few pre-curled wigs I can attach, though I can’t curl wool by hand. Just let me know what you’re envisioning — I’ll do my best to bring it to life.

Each 18-inch doll is soft, safe, and full of love. I’ve made dolls for children, collectors, celebrities, politicians, and even for jokes and gag gifts. 💛 Why This Matters to Me

I’m a Hispanic woman from Argentina. And believe it or not, my very first doll as a child was a Black doll. I didn’t understand the politics of it — I just loved her. She was beautiful. She was mine. And I think that early joy stuck with me all these years.
